Hear from the Principal 17.12.21

I can’t believe that the winter holidays are already upon us! I am delighted to have been able to share so many student success stories with you this term, and I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to you all for your ongoing support. I hope you have a wonderful break and I am looking forward to welcoming our students back to the College in January.

Helping hands and hoodies

As you will know, we will be updating the College uniform to include sweatshirts, instead of hoodies, from September 2022. During the transition, we are encouraging students and their families to donate their hoodies to support young people overseas. By recycling their hoodies, your child(ren) will directly complete their International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme, Diploma Programme and Career-related Programme service learning, by undertaking ‘direct action’ and demonstrating international-mindedness. We are proud that our students will be able to assist those less fortunate through the scheme and hope that you will encourage them to take part.

Year 11 mock exams

I am delighted to share that our Year 11 students achieved some fantastic results during their recent mock examinations, which is testament to their hard work, resilience and determination. Our students consistently make me proud and their performance during their mock examinations was no exception – congratulations to all of them and I hope they enjoy a well-deserved rest during their break.

House heroes

This week, I have had the pleasure of meeting with 20 students from each year group to congratulate them on exemplifying the College values. Academic success is important, but we also strive to ensure that all of our students are caring and well-rounded individuals and it is heart-warming to see so many students nominated by their Head of House for acts of compassion and caring towards other students.

Proud parents

I was thrilled to hear from the parents of Year 7 student, Lila C., earlier this month about her joining the National Youth Harp Orchestra. What a wonderful opportunity for a talented musician and I am sure that you will all join me in wishing her the best of luck for her musical career. I am grateful to be able to celebrate our students achievements outside of the College and I look forward to hearing from more of our parents in the future.

IBTea

Last week, Year 11 students enjoyed an afternoon visit to Impington International College, meeting subject specialists and students to find out more about the IB and ask any questions they had. Following the Q&A, they also enjoyed a sweet treat and the chance to relax, experiencing life as a Sixth Form student. I hope they found the session useful and informative! There is still time to apply to join us in September and you can discover more about the admissions process and timeline here.

Extra, extra, read all about it

This week saw the release of our first ever Impington International College pre-applicant newsletter, dedicated to students who are considering their post-16 options. From student blogs, to admissions information and essential statistics, the newsletter is your go-to guide for all things Sixth Form. Keep an eye on your inbox for your copy.
