International Education

As an IB world school for more than three decades, international mindedness is at the heart of the College ethos. Our aim is to provide students with the opportunity to develop intercultural understanding and respect, and to celebrate our diverse community across both the main College and the our international sixth form. We aim to encourage students to be open-minded about the common humanity of people, and to provide opportunities for them to learn more about other cultures. By providing opportunities to travel abroad and experience education in other cultures, we hope to develop these skills directly, and then to encourage students to share their experiences with their classmates and teachers. This will broaden students’ horizons by allowing them to experience education from different perspectives, and will allow our teachers to have new experiences, which they can bring back to their own classrooms and teaching.

Connecting classrooms in countries across the globe has always been part of what we do. Even through the middle of a global pandemic, we have provided opportunities for students to enjoy virtual exchanges with our partner schools in Japan, and our students even featured in the local Japanese press!

We have partner schools in France, Germany, Spain, Japan and Ethiopia where we send students every year to explore different cultures and different educational experiences through exchange programmes and international conferences. We are currently creating links to schools in Guatemala and Botswana, as well as developing longer-term exchange programmes within Europe for our sixth form students.

Throughout the academic year, we run a huge range of trips both in the United Kingdom and across the world to provide students at Impington to experience the world around them and provide opportunities for wider education and recreation.
