Hear from the Principal 24.11.23

It has been a busy period for many of our students with mock examinations and numerous field trips taking place so I hope they enjoy their day off today (Friday).

A picture-perfect visit

Last week, our Year 10 Photography students enjoyed a visit to the Taylor Wessing Photography Prize exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery in London. One of the most anticipated photography competitions in the world, the exhibition showcases and celebrates talented professional and amateur photographers. Our students viewed the exhibition before exploring some of the world’s greatest pieces of portrait photography in the renowned Gallery.

During their visit, they were commended by the staff at the Gallery for their exemplary behaviour and I would like to thank them for being such fantastic ambassadors for the College. I cannot wait to see the impact of the visit in their upcoming photography sessions.

Team-building at Grafham Water

This week, some Year 7 students took part in a residential trip to the Grafham Water Centre, where they completed a range of fun and challenging team-building exercises, which are designed to foster their creativity, problem-solving and leadership skills. From raft building and pioneering, to high rope challenges and more, keep an eye on the College Instagram page for the highlights from the trip.

Year 11 mock exams

As we head towards the end of the Autumn term, our Year 11 students have entered an important stage of their education. This week, they sat their mock examinations, which provide an opportunity for them to gain experience of a real-life examination environment and identify any gaps in their own knowledge. While they form a key part of their GCSE preparations, I would like to remind you all that they do not contribute towards our students’ final grades, and are an opportunity for your child to focus their revision efforts in the coming months. However, if you are concerned about the mock examinations, please email:

Alumna inspires next generation of dancers

On 16 November, our Year 10 Dance students visited Dance East in Ipswich for a series of informative and enjoyable workshops with dance professionals including former Impington International College Performance School student, George! She graduated from the College five years ago and attended London Contemporary Dance School, before becoming a workshop leader at Dance East. We love to see our alumni going on to achieve great things and standing out as leaders within the Performing Arts world.

Sports Leaders shine again

Finally, our Year 10 Sports Leaders have again been supporting South Cambs SSP at the Small School Cross Country Competition, which was held at Milton Country Park. Our students had the responsibility of marshalling the route, leading the warmups, organising the runners at the start line and assisting with the winners’ presentations. They have been incredibly busy and generous with their time recently, volunteering at number of events across the region, and I would like to thank them all for their inspiring work, which demonstrates the International Baccalaureate (IB) Learner Profile in action.
