What an incredible 10 months it has been for the College. I have so enjoyed sharing weekly highlights with you from across all student age groups and relish the opportunity to look back at our 2022 – 2023 successes. During this academic year, our students have…
- Competed in over 200 sporting fixtures, with multiple students representing England on the international sporting stage.
- Taken part in almost 80 field trips. From Peru, India and Botswana to galleries, museums, and everything in between!
- Acted, danced and sung in 15 live performances, including People, Places and Things, Blood Brothers, and our own festival, iFest.
- Achieved outstanding International Baccalaureate (IB) results – nine of them achieved a point score of 40 or more; the equivalent of 4 A*s at A Level!
In June, we achieved a major milestone in our College’s history by receiving authorisation from the IB to deliver its Middle Years Programme (MYP). This positions us as the first state school in the UK for ages 11-18 to deliver the MYP, Diploma Programme (DP) and Career-related Programme (CP) to our students. Our MYP students have embraced the programme with open arms and are already reaping the benefits of the robust and forward-thinking curriculum. Just this week, our Year 8 MYP students were challenged with designing their own zen garden models and I had the pleasure of judging the entries. After much deliberation, I chose student Erin B.’s innovative design as the winner and her garden will now be built on the College grounds over the coming months.
None of this would have been possible without our amazing College community and I would like to say a huge thank you to every student, parent, guardian, and member of staff who has helped to make this year so special. I hope you all have a wonderful break and I look forward to welcoming you back to the College in September.
