Hear from the Principal 15.03.22

As we head towards the first day of Spring, the College continues to bloom and prosper with students achieving sporting and academic success.

Gold standard mental health and wellbeing

It is well recognised that the number of students suffering from anxiety and other mental health conditions is increasing. At the College, we pride ourselves on the support that students can access here, from mentoring to counselling to pastoral care. We are so excited that the mental health and wellbeing support that our staff and students receive has been recognised for the second time by the Carnegie Centre of Excellence for Mental Health in Schools. Discover more about the resources available for students on our website.

iCASXtra

As you know, we place a strong emphasis on the holistic development of our students; encouraging personal development and wellbeing alongside academic achievement. Our iCASXtra programme offers students the opportunity to try new activities, such as baking, crafting or volunteering in Period 0 and 6 on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. I am pleased to share that more than 600 students regularly take part in one of the 40 experiences available to them! As our students begin to approach the GCSE revision period, it is important to remember that taking part in their hobbies can help to relieve stress, improve performance and increase happiness. So I would encourage all of our students to schedule time for their volunteering, sporting or creative pursuits.

European Youth Parliament

On 4 March, a number of Sixth Form students took part in the European Youth Parliament debate event. Through the International Baccalaureate (IB), students develop their understanding of different perspectives and enhance their critical thinking skills; all of which prepared them well for the debate event!  Congratulations to all of the students who took part.

They shoot and they score

GOOAAAL! I was thrilled to see our Sixth Form football team win 3 – 1 against TDAeducation, on 3 March. The match was an all-Norwich FC derby and our students performed exceptionally well, a testament to our student’s commitment to their training. Comedy for a cause

Our Parents, Staff, Friends Association (PSFA) works hard all year round to raise funds to help our students enjoy experiences and equipment which might otherwise be unaffordable. On 25 March, you can enjoy an evening of comedy with award-winning comedians, Rich Wilson, Pauline Eyre and Eric Rushton, brought to you by Custard Comedy. You can purchase tickets here.

The PSFA has raised and granted over £10,000 to support College projects. Discover the full list of projects funded by the PFSA and how you can help to support fundraising efforts .

Sixth Form applications

If your child has applied to study with us from September, they will receive their Sixth Form offer before the Easter holidays following the ongoing guidance meetings that have been taking place. We are looking forward to seeing many familiar faces joining us in Year 12 this year!
