Hear from the Principal 13.01.23

I hope you all had a wonderful festive break, and are feeling rested, recharged, and ready for what 2023 will bring. It has been a joy to welcome our students back to the College, and I look forward to what is sure to be an exciting Spring Term ahead.

Parent Coffee Morning: thanks a ‘latte’

I was pleased to see so many of you join us at our International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) Parent Coffee Morning yesterday. When we launched the MYP for Years 7 to 9 in September 2020, we did so with the goal of ensuring all of our students are not only prepared for the next stage of their studies but are also prepared for life beyond the classroom. The MYP emphasises interdisciplinary learning, along with an international perspective and service to others; skills that will be crucial in an increasingly globalised and interdisciplinary society.

We hope that events, such as our recent coffee morning, will help to answer some of the questions that you may have regarding studying the MYP, and will also help us to build stronger parent/teacher relationships. Ultimately, as educators and parents, we both want the best experiences and outcomes for the students, and informal opportunities to discuss College matters help to further both academic improvements and personal developments for our students.

I look forward to welcoming parents of our GCSE students to our Parent Coffee Morning on 19 January.

Those interested can reserve their place now.

New year, new iCAS activities!

The start of the new year is historically a time for trying out a new hobby or learning something new. At the College, our students have been trying out a range of different activities as part of their iCAS requirements. From Latin, Japanese and Orchestra Club, to Trampolining, Footgolf and Dodgeball, Multicultural Forums, Circular Economy exploration, LGBTQI+ social groups and more, we are so pleased to be able to offer our students a broad range of activities to engage with so that there is something exciting for everyone to try!

Year 11 parents evening

Now that the Spring Term has begun, we are entering a crucial part of our Year 11’s learning journey. With this in mind, I am very much looking forward to welcoming parents of our Year 11 students to our Parents’ Evening on 31 January.

We have a documented history of strong GCSE results, and we achieve this through both teacher and parent support, regular revision workshops, and open dialogue with our students. I look forward to seeing you at the parents evening and answering any questions that you may have on your child(ren)’s forthcoming GCSE exams.

In the meantime, if you have any queries or concerns regarding exams, please email , and a member of staff will get back to you.

Chromebooks for Year 8 students

I am excited to have launched our 1:1 Chromebook device scheme for all current Year 8 students at the start of this term. Our Year 7 cohort have already received their devices and are reaping the benefits of having their own Chromebook to enhance their learning experience.

Digital technology already plays a crucial role in most of our lives, and importance of digital proficiency in the workplace is only set to grow. As educators, it is our responsibility to ensure our students are well equipped to succeed in life beyond the school and providing pupils with their own 1:1 device is one of the ways in which we are striving to make this happen.

If you have any questions regarding 1:1 Chromebook devices, please direct them to .

Sixth Form applications

Although the current inclement weather is making summer seem a way away, before we know it, our Year 11 students will have completed their exams and will be moving on to Sixth Form education. All MyChoice16 applicants will have recently had their applications submitted by the College and will soon be contacted by their Sixth Form of choice. I am pleased to see that so many of our Year 11s have decided to stay on to our very own Sixth Form and look forward to seeing them continue to flourish.

If your child has applied for a place at Impington International College and you have any questions, please do get in touch with the team.

Calling all educators!

Finally, I am excited to announce that our College is expanding and we are growing our incredible teaching team. If you, or someone you know, is an educator interested in joining East Anglia’s top non-selective IB World School (The Sunday Times Parent Power List), then please explore opportunities to join us.
