I hope you and your child(ren) had an enjoyable and relaxing Half Term break – I can’t believe we are already in the final few weeks of the academic year! Many of our students were busy over the Half Term break and I’m pleased to share some of their experiences below.
From Impington to Africa
During the half-term break, a number of our students travelled to exciting destinations around the world, with fieldtrips taking place in France, Japan and Botswana. As an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, we have partnerships with other schools around the world, including with Marulamantsi Junior Secondary School in Botswana. A number of Sixth Form students enjoyed the opportunity to travel to the African nation and experience living, working and communicating with people from a different culture. The trip also featured a visit to the capital city, Gaborone and a once in a lifetime visit to the Mokolodi Nature Reserve, where they learnt about the important work that rangers are doing to stop poaching in the region. The students have since returned and have been reflecting on the trip as part of their IB Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS) requirements.
Bonjour, Ardeche!
Elsewhere, some of our Year 7 and 8 students enjoyed learning and adventuring in the UNESCO world heritage site, Ardeche in France. The students were able to practice their French Language skills in a practical environment and utilised their Geography and PE skills during paddleboarding and hiking challenges. It has been a joy hearing from the students about what a great time they had – I highly recommend heading to the College’s Instagram page to see some stunning photo highlights from the trip.
Congratulations to our Premier Legue alumni
I would like to congratulate former Impington Village College student and now Premier League footballer, Carlton Morris, on his team’s victory in the Championship Play Off Final! Although Carlton attended the College before I joined, other members of our Senior Leadership Team have informed me that Carlton was a wonderful student and a kind individual. Next season, Carlton will be lining up against the likes of Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea alongside his Luton Town teammates. On behalf of the entire College community, I would like to wish him the very best of luck with the season and thank him for being an inspiration to our football playing students. We’ll all be cheering him on!
Supporting the transition to Sixth Form
As we head towards the end of the academic year, we are looking forward to welcoming our next cohort of Year 12 students to Impington International College in September. Ensuring a smooth transition from secondary school to Sixth Form is vital to student success and morale, and we were pleased to welcome so many of our prospective Year 12s to our progressions support evening on Wednesday. Calling all quizzers
Keen quizzers will be pleased to learn that next Friday, we will be hosting a quiz unlike any other – The Showdown Quiz! The TV gameshow style quiz will challenge contestants to race against the clock and will feature a big screen as well as our own presenter. Tickets start from just £10 with all proceeds going to our Parents, Staff and Friends Association (PSFA), which provides our students with tools and equipment to enhance their learning experience.

Year 9 Parents’ Evening
Finally, it was great to welcome over 200 parents of our Year 9 students to our Parents’ Evening, which took place on Tuesday. Parents’ Evenings provide an important opportunity for us to meet with our parent community to ensure all our students have positive learning experiences.
