International Success: a world-class education at Impington International College

With GCSE outcomes placing the College as one of the very best schools in the country, Impington’s highly successful Sixth Form, Impington International College, provides an educational experience that is world-class, competing with both selective and non-selective schools across the globe. Specialising in the International Baccalaureate Diploma, which the College has delivered for nearly thirty years, Impington International College (IIC) has celebrated outstanding outcomes once again. With an average point score of 34 against a world average of 30, and an exceptional pass rate of 96% (internationally the pass rate is 80%), the College is rightly celebrating following another successful summer. At subject level, performance was incredible; in 38 subjects students at IIC achieved above the world average.

The International Baccalaureate (IB) is the ‘gold standard’ in sixth form education; it provides students with the opportunity to excel in six subjects, alongside completing a challenging ‘core’, including Theory of Knowledge, an Extended Essay and a programme of Creativity, Action and Service. The IB is widely recognised by universities as a demanding and rigorous pathway, and it is no surprise that at IIC, over 95% of students are offered their choice of university place. The College provides a truly unique experience for learners; it attracts students from both the local area and across Europe, with international students choosing to study at Impington and live with host families. Alongside the IB, the College offers a range of BTEC courses, including as part of renowned Performance School. Outcomes here were similarly successful, with 100% of students passing, and 50% achieving a Distinction or Distinction*. Many students from the Performance School  go on to professional companies, with a number starring in the West End.
