CHOCOLATE CAKE TRAY BAKE

Saturday 30 November  

1.30pm– 4.00pm

£10 per adult

Workshops for families to learn and have fun together!  One child (aged 7+) free per paying adult (19+).  All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Brief Description:

Does your family enjoy spending time in the kitchen together?  Come along to our afternoon of baking!  Make, frost and decorate a delicious chocolate cake tray bake.

Course Aims:

·         Learn how to make, frost and decorate a chocolate cake tray bake from scratch

·         Develop culinary skills and knowledge

·         Build confidence in the kitchen

 

Extra Costs:

Learners are required to bring their own ingredients.  An ingredients list will be sent out when the course is confirmed.  Please inform the Office of any dietary requirements and we will ask the tutor to suggest alternatives.

DECOUPAGE - CHRISTMAS EVE BOX

Brief Description:

Working together to create a personalise Christmas Eve box, which can be used for years to come.

 

Course Aims:

·         Create a Christmas Eve box using a selection of materials / resources

·          Add personalisation to make it unique to you

 

Extra Costs:

Learners will be asked to pay the tutor direct for materials.

£5 to include box, paints, decoupage paper, stickers.

What you need to bring to the first session:

An apron or dress accordingly as we will be using acrylic paints to decorate your Christmas Eve box.

DECOUPAGE - FUN ANIMALS 

Saturday 30 November

A family workshop where adults and children can have fun and learn together.  One child (age 7+) free per paying adult.  Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Brief Description:

Have you heard of the Liverpool ’Lambanas’, the Cow Parade of 2019 and the Newmarket Horses?  In this workshop, you will be creating your own decorative wooden duck sculpture through inspiration of these art installations to create our own ‘Duck Procession’.

Course Aims:

·         Using inspiration from other art installations to design your own duck

·         Using multiple media to create your own personalised duck 

Extra Costs:

Learners will be asked to pay the tutor direct for materials.

£5 to include a small wooden duck, decoupage paper, acrylic paints, glue.

What you need to bring to the first session:

An apron or dress acocordingly as we will be using acrylic paints to decorate the ducks.

FLOWER ARRANGING TOGETHER 

Saturday 30 November

10.00am – 12.30pm

£10 per adult

A family workshop where adults and children can have fun and learn together. One child (age 7+) free per paying adult. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Materials not included.

Brief Description:

Have fun with flowers by learning together how to make an arrangement in floral foam (one arrangement per adult & child). You will be shown how to condition and cut your flowers and how to place them in foam to make a pretty winter design. Then it is your turn to have a go.

Note: This workshops uses scissors, secateurs and knives. Adult supervision required.

Course Aims:

·         Learn how to cut and condition flowers correctly.

·         Learn how to use floristry tools and equipment

·         Learn how to make a simple floral arrangement

·         Learn simple principles of colour and floral design

Extra Costs:

There will be a materials fee of £14 payable to the tutor on the day. This price includes container, floral foam, all flowers and foliage.

MAKE YOUR OWN PIZZA 

Saturday 30  November  

10.00am – 12.30pm

£10 per adult

Workshops for families to learn and have fun together!  One child (aged 7+) free per paying adult (19+).  All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Learners are required to bring their own ingredients.

Brief Description:

Does your family enjoy spending time in the kitchen together?  Come along and make a pizza from scratch.  Learn how to make a simple base and sauce, then add your favourite toppings.

Course Aims:

·         Learn how to make a pizza from scratch

·         Develop culinary skills and knowledge

·         Build confidence in the kitchen

Extra Costs:

MOSAICS TOGETHER 

Saturday 30 November

10.00am – 2.30pm

£10 per adult

Workshops for families to learn and have fun together!  One child (aged 7+) free per paying adult (19+).  All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Brief Description:

This fun activity is an excellent way of spending time together. Come and have a go at designing and making a decorative mosaic.  You will tile and grout your own picture or pattern on a coaster.

Course Aims:

·         Design and make a mosaic picture or pattern

·         Learn basic mosaic tiling techniques

·         Consider how colours and shapes work together

·         Learn how to mix and apply grout to tiles

Extra Costs:

Learner will be asked to pay the tutor direct for materials.

£3 per coaster.

What you need to bring to the first session:

Wear old clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty

Container (e.g. tupperware or margarine tub) to carry finished item home in – around 12-15cm square

POTTERY TOGETHER

SCREEN PRINTING TOGETHER

Saturday 30 November

10.00am – 12.30pm or 1.30pm – 4.00pm

£10 per adult

A family workshop where adults and children can have fun and learn together.  One child (age 7+) free per paying adult.  Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Brief Description:

Get creative by designing and screen printing a bag or tea towel together.  Learn how to make a simple paper stencil to create bold shapes and patterns that you will print using small silk screens.

Course Aims:

·         Learn about basic screen print equipment for printing fabric

·         Learn how to make a simple screen print stencil of your design

·         Learn how to print your design onto a bag or tea towel

Extra Costs:

Working with their adult, children can expect to print 1 item.

Learners will be asked to pay the tutor direct for their bag or tea towel.

SEW A CHRISTMAS STOCKING

Saturday 30 November

10.00am – 12.30pm

A family workshop where adults and children can have fun and learn together.  One child (age 7+) free per paying adult.  Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Materials not included.

Brief Description:

Make that all-important item ready for Christmas Eve.  Your can decorate your stocking can to impress Father Christmas.

 

The workshop is suitable for beginners and those with more sewing experience.

Course Aims:

·         Learn how to cut out fabric

·         Learn some basic sewing techniques by hand and/or machine

·         Experienced sewers can learn about quilting and more advanced decorative techniques

Extra Costs:

You may bring your own fabrics or a selection of kits will be available from the tutor from £3, depending on size and choice of decoration.

The tutor also hopes to have some Makower panels for beginners, so that the decoration is already done, although you can always improve it.  The panels cost £7.50 each and make stockings 54 cms long or an Advent calendar of 24 little stockings.  Lining (and wadding, if required) would be extra.

Learners are required to pay the tutor direct for their chosen stocking kit.

It is advisable not to purchase any materials or equipment until the course has been confirmed as running.

What you need to bring to the first session:

Basic sewing kit of needles, thread (such as red, black or white), thimble, scissors, pins or clips.  The tutor will have some spares you may borrow if you are a total beginner.

Glitter thread, beads, Christmas buttons, ribbon, etc., but a good selection will be available from the tutor.

A sewing machine, in good working order, will speed things up, especially for larger stockings.  A machine could be shared between 2 or 3 people.
