BALLROOM DANCING - ADVANCED

Wednesday 26 September for 8 weeks

7.00pm – 8.00pm

£40 / £32 concession

Brief Description:

This course is suitable for learners who have developed the necessary steps and knowledge to progress to an advanced level.

Ballroom and Latin American dances - Waltz, Foxtrot, Quickstep, Tango, Cha Cha, Samba, Rumba, Jive.

Dance partner required.

Course Aims:

  • Gain further confidence in Ballroom and Latin American dancing
  • Build upon existing knowledge of dance routines and introduce new steps
  • Continue to learn about the origins of each dance and the music, counting in beats according to the time signature of the dance.
  • Improve fitness

Extra Costs:

None

What you need to bring to the first session:

Comfortable clothes

Shoes with a back in to support the heel (trainers are too grippy)

Bottle of water

BALLROOM DANCING - IMPROVERS

Wednesday 26 September for 8 weeks

7.00pm – 8.00pm

Brief Description:

This course is suitable for learners who have a basic knowledge of ballroom and Latin American dancing and have developed the necessary steps to progress to an improver level.

Ballroom and Latin American dances - Waltz, Foxtrot, Quickstep, Tango, Cha Cha, Samba, Rumba, Jive.

Dance partner required.

Course Aims:

  • Gain further confidence in Ballroom and Latin American dancing
  • To focus more on technique to improve style of dance
  • Continue to learn about the origins of each dance and the music, counting in beats according to the time signature of the dance.
  • Improve fitness

 GUITAR FOR BEGINNERS

Wednesday 26 September for 15 weeks

6.45pm – 7.45pm

Brief Description:

This course is aimed at absolute beginners and will introduce learners to the basics of guitar playing.  You will look at the mechanics of popular music through the study of the diatonic scale system and its relevant chords.

Learners would benefit from practicing / playing up to 4hrs per week – but not necessarily in one session or block.

Course Aims:

  • Develop an understanding of the structure(s) of western music - the diatonic system
  • Demonstrate the basic use of a plectrum to accompany a song
  • Demonstrate a simple patterned finger pick to accompany a song
  • Be able to play a simple solo guitar piece
  • Be able to play along with a simple song in a group format

UKULELE FOR ALL

Wednesday 26 September for 9 weeks

Brief Description:

In a relaxed, fun and encouraging environment, you’ll learn the basic techniques of ukulele playing as well as some well-known songs to practise with.

This course is suitable for absolute beginners and those wishing to further develop their skills.  You will develop an understanding of the western diatonic system of music. 

Learners would benefit from practicing / playing up to 2hrs per week – but not necessarily in one session or block.

Course Aims:

  • Develop an understanding of the structure(s) of western music - the diatonic system and it’s relevant chords
  • Introduce plucking and picking techniques to enhance both group and solo playing
  • Be able to play a selection of songs / tunes on the ukulele

You will need to bring your own ukulele.  It must be in good playing order.
