Impington Village College

Where are they now?

At IVC, we recognise that you, our alumni, have gone on to have amazing lives and careers, taking you across the world to reach your goals, gaining families along the way. Through our increasing connections, we have been able to produce a document titled “Where are they now?” which details the biographies of some of our alumni members. This is not only incredibly interesting, but it is extremely useful for current students. It enables them to see what other people have achieved beyond College, therefore providing them with a passion to pursue their own dreams.

  • Suzanne Cardy

    Bar Manager; Sudbury Cricket Club

Suzanne Cardy, (née) Adams, studied at IVC for a short period between 1986 and 1987. Her Dad's job meant they had to move away to Sudbury in Suffolk, where she still lives today.

She went on to complete all her GCSE's, stayed in sixth form, and studied Chemistry, Physics and Maths A Level, but didn't do very well. Luckily, Suzanne had already landed a job in the development lab of a wood finishing factory before she received her results. She worked there for 14 years developing paint, visiting customers, and enjoyed it immensely. Suzanne also met her husband there and left the company after having a daughter in 2007. She then started work again in the bar of the local cricket club. Seven seasons later, she now manages it!

Suzanne and her husband went on to have a son in 2010, who was born with cleft lip, so life has been an interesting journey so far. She has never forgotten her short time at IVC though and is sure the College has changed a lot since 1987!

    A Piece of Advice
“Be brave, learn what you can, try new things, and you will get through it. College is really big and daunting after junior school and even though you may feel alone, everyone else in your year is going through it too. Stay strong and independent, smile and you can achieve anything”.
