Please support a petition for a fairer funding agreement for Cambridgeshire Schools
As you know, Cambridgeshire schools are poorly funded both in absolute terms and relative to other local authorities and this is having an impact on our children's education. Cambridgeshire Schools Forum has started a new campaign for additional funding by contacting local MPs and the Secretary of State for Education about the impacts of the current funding levels. We have also made input into the recent call by the Select Committee for Education for evidence on funding and their impacts.
Our next step is an electronic petition to Government. We wanted to have a specific Cambridgeshire petition but this was rejected as being too close to an existing petition. Thus we have decided to ask all parents, carers, staff, students and anyone else interested in the education of our children to sign the existing petition.
It is a simple process provided you have an email address. Click on the link https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/211156 You will then be asked to enter your name, email address and postcode. This will generate an email to you which will give you a link to click to verify your input. Your personal information is not used for any other purpose.
If we achieve 10,000 signatures Government will respond. If there are 100,000 signatures the petition will be considered for a debate in Parliament.
Please forward this email to others who may be willing to sign the petition, and if you can promulgate the key information onto social media too it would be greatly appreciated.
