Update for Parents March 24

Important information regarding buses and Office 365

Thank you so much for following the government guidance regarding who should attend school during this phase of social distancing.  We have very low numbers attending at the moment and this is enabling us to provide a safe environment for them as well as give teaching staff time to prepare and share resources.  I have been asked to share with you the plans for a drastically scaled back bus service that will come into effect from Thursday this week.  One bus will provide a service in place of all the buses we currently had.  The times and pick up/locations are set out below;

Teaching staff continue to set work on Microsoft Teams and or Google Classroom and logging what work is set via Edulink.  The initial issues we had with Edulink yesterday have been resolved, it was not a capacity issue, it was just bad timing that one of their servers failed and they needed time to migrate the content to an alternative.  Staff are having to get up to speed with Teams at a lightning pace – we had a summer CPD programme planned to fully get used to Teams but this is having to be condensed into a learn as you go programme – they are responding superbly.  In the meantime – if we could ask for your patience whilst we get used to the system and the best format of work to set, that would be wonderful.

Can I also remind parents that all students have free access to Office 365 and ALL the apps that come with the suite.  Students just need to login to office 365 and then they can download, on up to three different computers, all the office programmes for free.

We have all had some time to digest the full impact of the Prime Minister’s message last night and what this means for us all for social distancing and journeys out of the house.  There is a huge amount of support for parents on social media platforms and celebrities, businesses are certainly helping out with the free access of many teaching resources.  Having been one (or four) of the 1 million people to take part in Joe Wicks PE lesson this morning I can certainly vouch for its effectiveness not only in raising fitness but in also tiring the children out for an hour or so later.  Please share these opportunities with your friends and neighbours so that the next few weeks can be a more manageable prospect for us all.
