Letter to parents of Year 11 regarding iCAS

iCAS changes for year 11 students with effect from Wednesday 18th March

Dear Parents/Carers,

We currently have over 100 students taking part in external iCAS sessions.  These range from supporting lessons and reading in local primary schools to visiting elderly residents in our local care homes.  We have taken the decision to withdraw our students from external iCAS in order to protect the vulnerable and ease any concerns you might have had about your children being in contact with such a wide range of ages.

In order to accommodate this large number of students back into the college population, we need to create some capacity with the planned iCAS sessions in college.  To that end, we would like your support to allow all year 11 students to leave school at 14:10, after registration this Wednesday afternoon and the following Wednesdays on the 25th March and 1st April assuming that we remain open until the Easter break.  We have drawn up a bespoke program for year 11 students after Easter and will share details of this over the next few weeks.

We would be delighted to open up the prom for a small number of students to revise in college during those afternoon sessions if you would prefer your son or daughter to remain in college.  We have been very impressed with the mature attitude our year 11 students have demonstrated during their mock exams and study leave that we have the utmost confidence that they will make full use of this time in the afternoons.

Again, if you have any questions or concerns regarding the COVID-19 infection and how we plan to meet this challenge then please do contact me on swarburton@ivc.tmet.org.uk and we will make sure your concerns are addressed as quickly as possible.

Yours
