IVC to close - Update for parents

The Secretary of State for Education (Mr Gavin Williamson) has just announced...

...that from Friday afternoon all schools across the country will close to the majority of students for the foreseeable future.  He also announced that all examinations in May and June are cancelled and that there is no fixed date for schools to reopen as of now.  Mr Williamson also indicated that he intends schools to offer supervision for children with EHCPs, those deemed as ‘vulnerable’ and children of key workers – although he has not yet confirmed what defines a key worker.

Clearly there is a huge amount to digest and implement before Friday.  We want to reassure you that the leadership team will be working over the next 24 hours to set out plans for the weeks ahead. We will aim to share this as soon as possible, but please be reassured that we will also act calmly and make considered decisions rather than rushing to give answers, so it may take us some time.

You will have many questions and we will do our best to answer them.  Our immediate thoughts are with those students preparing for examinations, they will be rightly concerned to learn how their efforts will be recognised.  Please focus this evening on reassuring your children that we will do all we can to support them and you over the next few weeks and beyond, and that we will continue to provide the best experience possible for our students, even if this is different for a while.
