Policies
The College aims to meet its obligations under the Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED), by having due regard to the need to:
- Eliminate discrimination and other conduct that is prohibited by the Equality Act 2010
- Advance equality of opportunity between people who share a protected characteristic and people who do not share it
- Foster good relations across all characteristics – between people who share a protected characteristic and people who do not share it
The pupil premium is intended to tackle the achievement gap between students from disadvantaged families and their peers. At the College we are committed to ensuring that all disadvantaged students make accelerated progress through:
- Increasing the impact of quality of teaching and focused intervention to secure positive progress for our disadvantaged students, beyond that of all students nationally
- Clear and robust tracking of students, reinforced by rigorous accountability measures
- Rapid intervention where student attendance falls below 98% to ensure students are attending College and are ready to succeed
- Active engagement of our disadvantaged students and their parents, promoting a positive mind-set and 'can-do' mentality, removing barriers to learning and ensuring our disadvantaged students demonstrate the excellent behaviour expected by the College
Objectives
- All disadvantaged students will make at least expected progress, in line with national averages for students who are not disadvantaged
- All disadvantaged students will have good attendance and behaviour, in line with national averages for students who are not disadvantaged
- All disadvantaged students will be successful learners, provided with timely and accurate feedback on their learning and given additional support where required, particularly to develop their Literacy and Numeracy skills

Strategies
The Booster Programme
Throughout Year 7 to Year 11, we run a booster programme with additional literacy and numeracy support for students who are not on track to achieve at least a grade 4 in English and Maths at GCSE. Additional information on our booster programme can be found here.
We also utilise a range of other strategies based on students’ individual needs, including resources such as Lexia, bespoke small-group interventions, homework support and Period 6 extended day.
Review of impact
At the College, we recognise the importance of sustaining the progress made in Year 7 to ensure that students reach their full potential. We continue to track the progress of our Booster students as they move through the programme.
