IVC Virtual Open Evening
This week we are hosting our first Year 6 Virtual Open Evening. If you have friends and family who are in Years 5 or 6 then please encourage them to sign up via Eventbrite here. There are a range of presentations and Q&A sessions, as well as a content-packed Microsoft Sway.
Six new subjects on offer for Sixth Form
We are excited to share that from September 2021, our Sixth Form, Impington International College (IIC), will be offering six new subjects to students, including: International Baccalaureate (IB) Business, IB Global Politics, IB Italian ab initio, IB French ab initio, BTEC Business and BTEC Health and Social Care. The new IB courses expand our Diploma Programme (DP) curriculum to a total of 33 subjects!

This week in College
This week in College staff are focusing on plans for remote learning, in the event of further closures. We are also training staff in a variety of technologies to help them in working effectively to plan/deliver lessons from home, should they have to isolate and cannot teach in College. This is to ensure that our students can continue to have the best possible experience, with minimal disruption.
IVC is awarded the Music Mark status
We found out last week that we were nominated as a Music Mark School. This award recognises schools that have shown a commitment to providing high-quality music education, including through extra-curricular provision. We were delighted to receive the award and certificate, and are incredibly proud of our Music department, which makes up a significant part of our Performing Arts team. We are one of few schools to teach Music, Dance and Drama as an integral part of our KS3 curriculum, and to offer all three, as well as BTEC Performing Arts, for GCSE. Through iCAS students can do a huge range of Arts experiences, including ballet, street dance and musical theatre. At IIC, we offer Theatre Arts, Dance and Music as part of the DP and BTEC Performing Arts as part of the IB Career-related Programme. We have also just launched our new Performing Arts Scholarship, which will provide students with the opportunity to access individual tuition, audition support and funding, and extra workshops with professionals.
Student successes: Principled, Caring
I met with Sofia Bienzobas (Year 7) to congratulate and present her with a Certificate of Commendation and Eco-Councillor Badge for having served on the Cambridge Schools Eco-Council over the past year. Â We are extremely pleased to see that Sofia has such a committed approach to environmental issues and is taking active steps to raise awareness, increase education and promote action. It is commendable to witness her participation in environmental and sustainability issues and take on such a worthy cause. Sofia most definitely demonstrates our pastoral curriculum attributes Caring and Principled.
Meet the SLT Member: Pippa Mugan
What is your role in College?
Assistant Principal with responsibility for wellbeing, staff induction, primary liaison and transition, educational trips and visits, sixth form scholarships and duties. I am also continuing with the role of Director of Sport.
How long have you been at IVC, and what did you do before you joined?
I joined IVC in January 2017 as Director of Sport. Prior to joining IVC I worked as a PE teacher in Luton and then became Head of Sport at Sandy Upper School. I had a small dream of being a West End Star but as you can see that did not pay off!
What do you like most about IVC?
The staff and working environment; the general positive atmosphere of IVC;Â the opportunities provided at IVC; The support and guidance shown from all staff to make the IVC community.
I actually enjoy coming to work every day! And of course, the students… most of the time!
What do you enjoy in your spare time?
I love playing sport, mainly handball and netball. I also like visiting the theatre and going to watch musicals in particular.
