IVC college exterior

Hear from the Principal 17.03.23

Our students have remained committed to their studies this week during the partial closures of the College, and I would like to thank you all for your patience and understanding.

1:1 device scheme update

Gaining the skills required to thrive in an increasingly digitalised world is an important part of our students’ education. Everyone in Years 7 and 8 now have their own Chromebook device thanks to our 1:1 device scheme, which has been an overwhelming success.

This week, we were pleased to host a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) event on 1:1 devices with other schools within the Eastern Learning Alliance Trust. During the afternoon, staff were able to learn new strategies and skills to support student learning using the Chromebooks to support students’ digital proficiency.

Exhibition showcases students’ ‘art’ and soul

Our Brackenbury Room has been transformed during the past week to host our International Baccalaureate (IB) Visual Arts students’ Art Show. Our students worked incredibly hard to create an exhibition that showcased a range of artistic disciplines, including sculptures, portraits and still life paintings, photography and more. Thank you all for joining us at the exhibition earlier this week.

Be sure to keep your eyes on our Sixth Form’s Instagram, Twitter and Facebook page for highlights.

Climate and law: COP 15 and you!

I am delighted to be welcoming Jenni Ramos, lawyer at the Commonwealth Climate and Law Initiative, to the College on 22 March to deliver the latest talk in our series of Gropius Lectures. You are invited to join us in the Alan Rodgers Building, where Jenni will be detailing her career journey, and showcasing ways in which young people can become more involved in tackling the climate and biodiversity crises. If you’d like to attend, please email Neil Jones.

Join our community of educators

Our team is growing, and we are looking for an inspirational Mathematics Lead Practitioner and a passionate English Teacher to join our thriving College. If you, or someone you know, is interested in joining our teaching community, you can find more information or apply here.
