Hear from the Principal 11.02.22

After a busy start to the year, I hope all of our students enjoy their Half Term break, ready to return relaxed and refreshed ready for the Spring Term.

Securing the future

Congratulations to our students who were finalists in the CyberFirst Girls Competition on 5 February. The competition, which aims to inspire more girls to pursue careers in cyber security, saw more than 7,000 students, aged 12 to 13, tackle challenges on networking and AI to cryptography and logic. Just 16% of the UK’s cyber workforce is made up of women and I hope that these types of events will continue to inspire our female students to pursue a diverse range of academic and career opportunities.

Showcasing our stars

I am tremendously proud of the 80 students who took part in our live performance of Annie! The Musical between 8 and 10 February. From creating sets to choreographing the show and orchestrating the music, our students’ passion for their craft was clear to see. I think you’ll agree that their hard work paid off! I would also like to extend a big thank you to each of the parents who volunteered their time during the event. If you would like to know how you can support the College and our students, please contact the Parents, Staff and Friends Association (PSFA). If you were unable to attend, you can watch a behind the scenes video of the show on our Instagram account.

Planting the seed of friendship

Your child may have recently taken part in the special planting ceremony for the beautiful Cherry Blossom tree, which was kindly gifted to us by the Japanese government in recognition of our countries special partnership. The Cherry Blossom tree, an icon of Japanese society, will symbolise our relationship with the Japanese learning community for years to come, and, I know that it will remind our students of the importance of being part of the international community as they enjoy the annual tradition of Hanami.

Sixth Form guidance meetings

I am thrilled that we have received so many applications for our Sixth Form, Impington International College, from our current students. Following their return from Half Term, if your child has applied, they will be contacted to arrange a guidance meeting about their application and to discuss their next steps. We are very much looking forward to them continuing their learning journey with us!
