Hear from the Principal 05.11.21

I want to extend a warm welcome back to all of our students following the recent half-term. I hope that they enjoyed their well-deserved rest and are re-energised, ready to tackle the Winter term which is full of exciting trips, workshops and events.

Parent and Carer forum

I was delighted to see parents and careers attended our first dedicated forum to discuss the experiences of students, and their families, at the College. Hosted by our Assistant Principal, Mr Gee, the discussion covered a variety of subjects including: SEND provision, student wellbeing, the curriculum and the College environment. I hope those who attended found it useful and enjoyed being able to meet with other parents and carers to share your experiences.

The next meeting take place in February 2022 and we welcome all parents and carers, please contact us if you would like to attend.

Bright lights, big city

I’m thrilled that our Performing Arts students were able to visit the National Theatre on 4 November to see The Normal Heart. Live theatre performances are an incredibly important learning tool, exposing students to a variety of techniques that can be used to enhance their performance skills and I know they will be looking forward to sharing their experience with you.

Theory of Knowledge (TOK) exhibition

TOK is a core component of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme (DP) which aims to help students explore the nature of knowledge. Last month was our Sixth Form’s first ever TOK exhibition, where students were able to share their knowledge of chosen objects. The exhibition was filmed, and edited, by our talented Year 12 student Joshi D., and you can view the video on our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram channels.

Year 7 Parents’ Evening

Our upcoming Parents’ Evenings, which take place this month, are valuable opportunities for you to spend time with your child(ren)’s teachers and understand the progress that they are making. With the introduction of the Middle Years Programme last term, our students have made fantastic progress and we are looking forward to sharing their success stories with you.

Norwich City FC Regional Development Programme

We are incredibly proud to be part of the Norwich City FC Regional Development Programme, offering students the chance to access professional football coaching and opportunities when they study at the College. This half term, students were able to relax and enjoy a two-day football and sports camp where they got to practise their football skills and try lots of other sports and games, including indoor archery. I have a feeling that there are some budding young professionals who will be keen to try out for a Sixth Form sports scholarship now!

Sixth Form applications

Our Year 11 students are busy preparing to choose their Sixth Form, with your support, and it has been tremendously heartening to hear how many of your child(ren) would like to continue their learning journey with us. You can find out more about the admissions process and the timeline for Sixth Form applications here.
