All students in Years 7 and 8 recently took part in a triathlon, along with some 600 students from a variety of other local primary and secondary schools. TATA Kids of Steel were the event organisers and it was also supported by British Triathlon, One Step Beyond (sport event management), South Cambs School Sports Partnership and the Faculty of Sport and Well-Being.
Students were briefed on the order of activities and then were given a t-shirt, swimming cap and a 'goody bag'. Firstly, they each swam 60m which was followed by a donning of trainers and run to the bikes. They each then hopped onto a cycle and put a safety helmet on before cycling 1km on the field. The next changeover station was for the students to run the remainder of the course, 500 metres, and complete the triathlon. The weather did its best to hold out for us as we only got caught up in a couple of showers.
