All students at IVC must do Science as part of their curriculum. Lessons are taught as discrete subjects, Biology, Chemistry and Physics with the exception of some BTEC Science classes.

There are three main routes through KS4 Science;

Separate Science which results in the award of 3 GCSEs. This route is suitable for those students with a keen interest in Science. 3 GCSEs are taught in the curriculum time for 2 GCSEs (except for the current Year 11 who have had to use one of their option blocks). Due to this increased pace and the greater difficulty of content students must have a 5a at the end of Year 8, preferably a 6c.
Science and Additional Science which result in the award of 2 GCSEs. This is the standard route for students to follow.
BTEC Science. This course is designed for those students where the options above would not be suitable.
