    • About Us

Impington International Sixth Form is an outstanding sixth form in Cambridgeshire. In our 2006 Ofsted, all judgements relating to the sixth form were deemed ‘Outstanding’. In 2011 IB students achieved a 100% pass rate (international average is 78%) and 82% of the A2 results were A* -C, the highest percentage among school sixth forms in the area. For 20 years Impington International Sixth Form has been offering the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma programme, a pre-university course recognised by HESA (2011) as superb preparation for university.

Impington also offers AS/A2 courses, The Performance School, and IDEAL.  So, you can be assured that there is a course at Impington to meet your needs and aspirations.

The word ‘international’ is not in the sixth form name just because we have the IB; we are genuinely international. Students join us from the local area of Cambridge, wider regions of the UK and from approximately 15 other countries.  Such a rich mix of cultural perspectives enables our students to develop a sense of their international identity and take their place in the global forum. Our projects link with MenelikEducation, DRCongo; Peace Child,India; European Comenius schemes and our new venture with LinkEthiopia.

The Performance School continues to attract large numbers of extremely talented artists, many of whom proceed to specialist colleges and training centres for professional work. Such places include Millennium, Arts Education and Northern Contemporary Dance. Our teachers have worked in the industry and bring experience as well as high academic credentials to their lessons.

Within The Performance School, students can combine A Level qualifications in Drama, Performing Arts, Media Studies, Digital Photography, Music Technology with IB Dance, IB Film or IB Music. We are pleased to offer A Level human science courses as well as Physical Education. The PE course provides practical as well as theoretical sport-related opportunities based in the new Impington Sports Centre, with fitness suite and pool.

For post-16 students with significant learning difficulties, the IDEAL course develops self-confidence, independence and skills needed for life. Accredited Foundation Learning modules are taught in a purpose-built venue, comprising a garden, kitchen and study areas.

Impington International Sixth Form is an exciting place to be: inclusive, inspirational and international.

Rebecca's Paralympic medal quest gets boost.

A TEENAGE swimmer has received a big boost in her efforts to become a Paralympic gold medallist.

Rebecca Lawes was awarded a grant from the disability charity Papworth Trust to help her train for the Rio Games in 2016. The 18-years old Impington Village College sixth former was born with cerebral palsy and has moderate learning difficulties. She has refused to let this hold her back, and won four golds when she swam in her first National Disability Championships in Sheffield this year. She said:” I am determined to perfect my strokes, improve my strength and stamina, and improve my times.” Papworth Trust offers grants of up to 400 pounds to help young athletes compete in the London Games or in Rio. David Martin, Trust Director said: "Rebecca showed the ambition and drive to succeed on world level. Papworth Trust is proud to help her to achieve her goals."

Kiran Flynn, former student now studying history at SOAS, is amateur winner of The Guardian International Development Journalism Competition
