Dress Code
A high standard of personal appearance is expected of all students and staff. As part of the rights and responsibilities students have in our College, we expect that they should LOOK SMART by wearing the correct College uniform at all times. We expect all staff will monitor uniform throughout the day.
Jewellery
One pair of discreet stud earrings (no larger than a five penny coin). No other forms of visible piercing are allowed. No bracelets or rings. Necklaces should not be visible. No more than one watch should be worn. Earrings must be removed for PE lessons.
Make up
Discreet make-up may be worn. The College reserves the right to instruct students to remove excessive make-up and nail polish.
Hair
The College reserves the right to request that hair is tied back in circumstances where students’ health or safety is put at risk. Hijab head dress to be plain and dark in colour.
Coats
Coats, scarves, gloves and hats can be worn to and from College but not in lessons or in the Library. Coats must not be worn in place of College sweatshirts but they can be worn in addition to these. Sweatshirts or ‘hoodies’ are not permitted. Where students travel to and from College on foot or bicycle, we recommend that they wear reflective gear and helmets.
Bags
Bags must be durable and big enough to fit an A4 folder and work books. At the College, we are adopting more sustainable and environmentally friendly policies; therefore, we believe plastic bags are not acceptable as an alternative to the main College bag.
Trousers/ Skirts
Black trousers can be worn and this includes jeans. However, any trousers chosen must be smart so this will not include track suit bottoms. Skirts should be free moving and not tight against the legs. Shorts will be permitted in the summer term only. This will not include PE shorts.
Shoes
Plain black sensible footwear, preferably flat, should be worn and this can include trainers. There should be no logos, coloured flares, coloured stitching, high heels or boots. If shoes have laces these should be black also. No open - toed footwear of any type can be worn.
Socks and Tights
Tights must be plain, opaque, black or flesh coloured. Socks worn with skirts must be plain in colour and ankle length.
Belts
Must be plain, narrow, black, and fitted through the belt loops of trousers.
Polo shirts
Sky blue IVC logo polo shirt ONLY are allowed.
IVC Sweatshirt
Blue: Year 7, 8, 9 and 10
Blue, green or maroon: Year 11
The College sweatshirt will bear the College logo.
